Creation of a COVID-19 Contact Tracing App for a Development Finance Institution
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic was sweeping across the globe, and countries were struggling to contain its spread. A DFI was tasked with developing a contact tracing app that would help track the spread of the virus. The agency needed a technology partner to design, develop, and test the app, as well as provide documentation for the entire process. The agency's main challenge was to develop a reliable, user-friendly app that would work across different operating systems and mobile devices.
COOi Studios, a technology consulting firm with expertise in app development and design, was selected to assist the DFI. COOi Studios approached the project by first defining the contact tracing problem statement and generating technology solution concepts. The team then designed the processes for the solution design and mapped the user journey maps.
The applied capabilities in strategy, design thinking, innovation and project management to deliver a successful high-quality and Innovation Session enabled the team to identify and define their business problems and solutions. This successful project is an example of COOI Studios' ability to provide value-added services to clients in the consumer goods sector.Â
COOi Studios developed a prototype for the contact tracing app, and the team worked closely with the public sector agency to ensure that the app met all of the requirements. The team also developed test data, test cases, and executed systems testing and user acceptance testing on various versions of Android and iOS operating systems.
COOi Studios brought several capabilities to the table to ensure the success of the project. The firm leveraged its expertise in app design and development to create a user-friendly interface that would work well across different operating systems and mobile devices. The team also had experience in software testing, ensuring that the app was thoroughly tested before it was released to the public. Finally, COOi Studios was able to document the entire process, providing the public sector agency with a detailed record of the app's development.
